Inconceivable

Vice President Dick Cheney, continuing to personify the complete and utter disconnect that the Bush Administration has with reality, reasserted Monday afternoon his belief that, in spite of everything that points to the contrary, the Iraqi insurgency was, one year later, still in its “last throes.” However, during the question and answer session following a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, the Man Behind the Curtain did concede that “I don’t think anybody anticipated the level of violence we encountered.”
Unwilling to take responsibility for the White House’s misunderestimation however, the Vice President choose instead to invoke Iraq’s former dictator and perennial boogyman, Saddam Hussien, as the source of the coalition’s woes.
“If I look back on something that I underestimated, it would be the extent to which that society had been damaged by that series of events that had occurred over 30 years during Saddam’s rule.”
Later, when pressed by reporters about how he currently viewed the Iraq situation from within his reality distortion field, Mr. Cheney cited December’s parliamentary elections, the subsequent constitutional referendum, and the creation of an Iraqi unity government as proof positive that the coalition was, in fact, contrary to what was being reported in the liberal media, winning the war in Iraq.
But aside from the fact the coalition forces have suffered over the last 13 months their worst casualty rates since the start of the war, and disregarding the increasingly violent and persistent sectarian violence that has gripped the country over the past year, I suppose with the right shade of rose colored glasses you could see how the War in Iraq has been a success.
However, the only thing that this Leftwing Nutjob cannot understand is how in the hell these jokers are going to explain themselves to the Almighty when Judgement Day rolls around.
