See You In Court

By Thomas Jeffrey Article Posted: Thursday November 15, 2007

Judith Regan alleged this week that a senior executive at News Corporation, the parent company of her former employer, urged her to lie to government officials regarding her affair with Bernard Kerik following his nomination to become the first director of the newly-formed Department of Homeland Security.

The complaint filed in federal court alleges that the request was made of her in order to help protect the future presidential aspirations of one Rudolph Giuliani, Mr. Kerik’s close friend and former boss.

Ms. Regan, a former publisher who enjoyed her own imprint with HarperCollins, maintains that she was asked to “lie and withhold information from investigators concerning [Mr.] Kerik” and was later the target of a smear campaign by both the publishing house and News Corp.

Roger Ailes, the director of Fox News, has been accused by critics as using his far-reaching cable news network as a vehicle for Mr. Giuliani’s presidential campaign.

I for one love a good conspiracy, but this Leftwing Nutjob is intrigued by the nearly perfect storm that is fixing to take aim at the former New York mayor’s run for the White House. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m no fan of “America’s Mayor”, but with Mr. Kerik’s indictment last week on tax evasion throwing a such an unflattering light on the Giuliani campaign only to be followed up this week with Ms. Regan’s damning allegations, you almost what to take those folks pulling the strings regarding these shenanigans and give them a few lessons in subtlety.
