Conviction

A Sudanese Court has convicted a 54 year-old primary school teacher of insulting Islam for allowing her students to name a teddy bear ‘Muhammad.’ Mrs. Gillian Gibbons has been ordered to spend 10 days in jail and be deported from the country for blasphemy, but will be spared any lashings for her offense. The strict Islamic Laws that govern that portion of the world consider the naming of inanimate object after Islam’s prophet a capital offense.
