Man Of The People?

Pakistani President Purvez Musharraf took off his army uniform this week and took the oath of office as a civilian, complying with at least one of the plethora of demands that critics of his administration, both in Pakistan and abroad, had harbored since he took power some seven years ago. Concerns over the Muslim nation’s nuclear arsenal were allayed somewhat with the appointment of General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani to replace Musharraf as Pakistan’s army chief. General Kayani is a graduate of the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas and has been praised by US officials as someone that the Bush Administration can work with in the never ending “War on Terror.”
