Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman Michael Mullen has his ear bent on Monday by his Israeli counterpart in Jerusalem, as that Middle Eastern nation took issue with the findings contained within the recently declassified National Intelligence Estimate, in which US intelligence agencies asserted the Iran is no longer pursing a nuclear weapon. According to sources, Israel differed with the findings of the report and offered its own analysis that Iran re-started their nuclear weapons program in 2005 and continues to pursue the goal of attaining a nuclear weapon to this day. Israel, while widely rumored to have nuclear arms of its own, has never publicly acknowledged having them in their own arsenal. Mr. Mullen later met with Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak and later stated that he still considers Iran a threat and that he made that opinion known to his hosts in Israel. The chairman also stated that Israel would like to help the US in analyzing the intelligence that has gathered on Iran’s nuclear program.
