In Contempt
By Thomas JeffreyArticle Posted: Sunday December 16, 2007
In what many are viewing as an empty gesture, the Senate Judiciary Committee voted earlier this week to hold both Josh Bolton and Karl Rove in contempt of Congress for their continuing refusal to answer subpoenas about their involvement in prosecutorgate. The vote on Thursday sends the issue to the full Senate where Majority Leader Harry Reed will have the option of taking up the matter sometime after the new year. Contempt of Congress is a misdemeanor charge that carries a one year prison sentence if convicted.
