HONG KONG – China’s schizophrenia continues, as it abruptly changed course on Tuesday and allowed the US naval vessel Blue Ridge to dock in the port of Hong Kong, some two months after turning away three other USN vessels for no apparent reason. The refusal of port call for those ships, two of which were attempting to put into port ahead of a dangerous storm, provoked harsh diplomatic words between the two nations. The USS Blue Ridge, the Seventh Fleet’s flagship, will being in Hong Kong for a few days, allowing most of its 700-member crew the chance for some much needed shore leave.
