Wolfowitz, Redux
By Thomas JeffreyArticle Posted: Wednesday January 30, 2008
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Paul Wolfowitz, the former embattled Deputy Defense Secretary who then became the former embattled president of the World Bank, is once again back on the government dole, having been appointed chairman of the arms-control advisory panel over at the US State Department.
The 64-year old Wolfowitz, the man with a face only a mother could love, is now poised to advise Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on a whole host of issues, including but not limited to “arms control, disarmament, nonproliferation, political-military issues, and international security.”
The appointment has led many learned observers of all things Washington to wonder why Mr. Wolfowitz, whose last round of sage adivce helped land the United States in the middle of the curent Iraq War, would be tapped for his questionable wisdom once again.
