From Russia With Love

Russian Navy warships set sail for the South America paradise destination of Venezuela this past Monday to take part in what has been billed as a joint military exercise between the two countries. The squadron of half a dozen ships includes the Peter the Great, a nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser, and the Admiral Chebanenko, a Russian Navy destroyer.

The move illustrates the deepening ties between the two nations, with both former Russian President and current Kremlin puppet master Vlaidimir Putin, and the Mad Dog of the southern hemisphere, Hugo Chavez, also reaching a comprehensive energy cooperation agreement on Friday that would see Mother Russia invest even further in Venezuelan oil and gas reserves through its state-owned monopoly, Gazprom.

Moreover, the former Soviet Union extended a $1 billion line of credit to the South American nation to purchase additional Russian arms beyond the fighter jets, helicopters, and AK-47s that it has already purchased from the former Soviet Union.

The ships will join two Russian heavy Bear Bombers that arrived just last week in the South American country that will also take part in November’s the military exercise.
