Implosion

One of the few things that brings a smile to my face these days as I bear witness to the evisceration of my beloved Motor City is the daily drama that has become the Grand Old Party.
With the dawn of each new morning I find comfort in the assertions of Michael Steele that he truly is the leader of the GOP and the one most qualified to guide his party on its mission to inform the American people; that President Obama, the Democrats in Congress, Senator Arlen Spector ad infinitum have no idea what it is that they’re doing with Iraq, Guantanamo, the Economy, etc.
Then comes the afternoon, when He That Shall Not Be Named chimes in on his daily syndicated rant fest, contending that the moderates of the Republican Party are solely to blame for the misfortunes of the last two elections. This is usually followed by a comment or two that puts Mr. Steele on the defensive, forcing either the chairman himself or some other bootlicker within the party to hastily arrange a statement before the nightly news hour, aimed at correcting the pronouncements of HTSNBN and reasserting the leadership of Mr. Steele.
And then, of course, between the hours of 6:00PM and 8:00PM EST, someone within the GOP will get a call from Florida, forcing yet another surrogate to be marched out before the cable network political talking heads in an effort to “revise” the earlier message from Mr. Steele, adding even more confusion to the days events but elevating the comedic drama that is the Republican Party to even greater heights, much to the joy of this Leftwing Nutjob.
When it comes right down to it, I really am a man of simple pleasures.
